The Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala 2011

May second, at the Metropolitan Museum of New York, the world's biggest celebrities paraded on the red carpet for the Metropolitan Museum Art's Costume Institute Gala. The museum were redecorated in an English garden, with flowers and towering trees.
The gods of fashion attended the event; including Karl Lagerfeld, Vera Wang, Diane Von Furstenberg, Oscar de la Renta, Alexander Wang etc.
As Vogue website asserts:

The gala—a mix of beautiful reverie and high culture—was this year celebrating the opening of the new exhibition “Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty”—a look at the life and work of the visionary designer.”

“Savage Beauty, an exhibition devoted to the British designer, set his often incendiary oeuvre against a lyrical, emotionally charged backdrop, including a replica of a 30-foot oak tree in the Great Hall, reminiscent of those on McQueen's property in SussexEngland.”

I have selected several dresses that I think, are incredible and others which are without any comments...

Natalia Vodianova in Valentino and Valentino Garavani

Renée Zellweger in a Herrera Dress

Sarah Jessica Parker in Alexander Mcqueen

Gisele Bündchen in Alexander Mcqueen

Jessica Alba

Blake Lively in Chanel Haute Couture and Karl Lagerfeld in Tom Ford

Salma Hayek and François-Henri Pinault both in Alexander Mcqueen

The two dresses which follow are, in my opinion, very bad.
With these sort of flowers around her neck and her pulled hair, Jennifer Lopez seems to have a really small head. The dress is too imposing, it needs to be more aired.
Madonna's dress is a mess. It has no real form and the train is too small, we almost don't understand why it is here...

Jennifer Lopez in Gucci

Madonna
